Hello and welcome to my lifestyle blog! My world recently changed significantly on my birthday (March 2017) and a few days ago I woke up at 4am and said “I’m starting a blog.” The darkness in my friend’s bedroom did not respond but my mind was made up.
Why start a blog? I’ve been thinking about it for a while now and last year my husband and I started Lifestlye150 to talk about living a lifestyle that would enable us to live to 150 years old. The focus at that time was specific to health but our intentions were to eventually cover a variety of topics that constitute a lifestyle – work, finances, home life, travel and so on. I decided it’s time to get all this recorded, promote the lifestyle and add my own twist.
My goals for LIFESTYLE150:
- Live to 150 years old – We have already increased lifespans significantly and we are very close to overcoming some of the most deadly diseases such as cancer. I agree with people like Ray Kurzweil who forecast that anyone who can live for the next 20-30 years has a chance to live a much longer life, well beyond the records currently in the Guinness Book of World Records. I want to share my thoughts and opinions and research about the things I think can help people extend their lifespan and get more enjoyment out of the journey.
- Write and publish children’s books – I have thought about doing this for probably 20 years. I feel it’s time for me to overcome my fears and obstacles and finally just DO IT. Advances in technology and our digital publishing world have opened the doors so wide I don’t have anymore excuses. Yes, I still struggle with how will the book be illustrated, should I print it, will anyone like what I write. No, I won’t let it stop me. I want to impart any wisdom I gain from that process with others who might be dreaming of achieving their goals.
I live a bit outside the box. Sometimes I live way too far outside the box. The problem is I don’t like the box. I tried it. It made me unhappy. My box was marriage, a corporate job and suburbia for about 10 years. Then I transitioned to a hybrid box as a contractor for corporate, some bad for me boyfriends, and living in dream locations for another decade. The most recent chapter was a decade of running my own businesses, traveling the world, and being married to a man I can only describe as magical.
Today, I’m not physically with my husband for a mess of reasons, and I’m sitting in suburbia trying really hard not to end up in a corporate job. I can’t go backwards! This blog is my outlet and my motivation to continue to live outside the box. Hopefully my stories and information help others. I have my positive pants on. My mantra is “Think positive and positive things will happen.”
I hope you find something valuable in this blog!
